On Saturday 27th of April, an intense and exciting match occurred between Jarus Academy FC and Twitter FC at the Campus Mini Stadium in Lagos. A total of seven goals were scored with Jarus managing to secure a slim 4-3 victory over Twitter FC, who in part were buoyed at the prospect of securing a possible 5 million Naira cash prize.

Both teams came out fast with Jarus setting up in a 4231 formation while their opponents opted for a 433. The game was end to end as both teams preferred to go direct bypassing the midfield to get the ball out wide to the wingers or in behind the opposition’s defence. It was only when either team settled the ball in each other’s half that the players started playing short passes to each other. This resulted in crosses and cutbacks being the main method of creation as seen in the first goal for Jarus, a throw-in to the winger who played a cross across the face of the goal that was turned in by Confidence. Twitter FC equalized by taking advantage of the high line of Jarus with a long switch from the CB into the wide player who smashed in a sumptuous volley. A header from a corner gave Jarus their lead back before a huge mistake in their defense allowed Twitter FC to get back in the game.

As the half wore on, Jarus Academy gained more control of the ball and the game. Creating chances upon chances their next two goals finally came from a mixture of good high-pressing and poor goalkeeping. Just as it looked like Jarus was pulling clear of their opponents, Twitter FC managed to get a goal back before halftime in the hopes of making a comeback in the second half. Unfortunately, nothing came of it.
